Federal Government Contractors and Grantees Whistleblowing
Additional information on federal contractor and grantee protections:
Pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, 41 U.S.C. § 4712 covers employees of federal contractors, subcontractors, personal service contractors, grantees, and subgrantees. Note that Defense Department and NASA contracts and grants are covered under a separate statute (10 U.S.C. § 4701).
Given the law’s broad scope, many committees may have jurisdiction based on the subject of the whistleblowing and the federal agency involved with the contract or grant at issue.
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has the authority to investigate all subjects within the Committee’s legislative jurisdiction as well as "any matter" within the jurisdiction of the other standing House Committees.
